Glad I Took the Plunge

One Friday night we were having Sushi and bumped into some friends that had just purchased a Harley. They invited us to an event at the Harley dealership the next day. Of course my husband, Jim was all over the place looking at motorcycles. I, on the other hand just tagged along. Growing up I've ridden mopeds, four wheelers and had been a passenger on several motorcycles. I never really had an interest in learning to ride.

Monday, Jim called me and told me I needed to come home. I pulled up in our driveway, his truck was nowhere to be found. I popped the garage door and low and behold sat a brand spanking new 2003 Harley V-Rod with a happy tag on it (that's a new dealer tag)! He was soooo proud!

I rode with him as much as I could for about a year and a half. I found out that I loved riding motorcycle more than I could ever imagine! I loved it so much that the next time we went to Harley I found myself at the Riders Edge table signing up for the class. I lucked out the class I signed up for there were five other women taking the class also.

The class work was a cinch, but the thought of doing the course with an actual motorcycle made me very nervous! I woke up Saturday morning to find cloudy skies and a chance of 100% rain for the weekend. I told him I was just going to postpone the class, I didn't think I could handle learning in the rain. He convinced me to go! He said, "What better conditions to learn in?" He did have a point! "What would happen if we were on a road trip and it started to rain, was I going to pull over and wait?" No way!!!

So I completed the course, never dropping my bike all weekend. I was so excited. The next day I marched him down to the local Yamaha dealership and we purchased my 2005 V-Star 650. I rode her for a little over a year! She was a great beginner bike!

In November, Jim surprised me with a 2006 Harley Heritage Softail, she's black cherry, chromed up and ready to roll. Already I have 1,300 miles on her. She's a dream!!!

For all of you that are contemplating if riding is right for you or not, follow your heart! It won't steer you wrong!
