Rider's Edge Class Recap - Day Five

<< Day Four

DAY 5
The last day! Last night was the final classroom session for Rider's Edge. We only had a little bit of the workbook questions to go over. We watched a video on the effects of alcohol and played around with some "beer goggles." They are called Fatal Vision goggles and they simulate vision impairment after drinking...very cool to try when you are sober. And funny for everyone else watching. But also seriously demonstrate why it's a bad idea to drink and drive.

Final order of business was taking the written (multiple choice) test. It was pretty easy. In fact, we all made 100% on it. So we all passed the course!

Our prize was our coveted certificate of completion (and card of completion) to take to the DMV and to our insurance agent. We also got little personalized awards from the instructor. I was honored with the "Sheik of Sharp Turns" award. Did I mention the instructor is a smart-a$$? We also got a key ring, a Harley t-shirt (very cool looking), a Rider's Edge Group Riding pin (because we did the class as a group!), a packet of notes from the course for practice later, and a rental certificate for money off a Harley rental. And cake...chocolate cake! It was a nice touch. Al is supposed to email us some pictures he took while we were out on the course.

So that's the end of this story...but the beginning of my big adventure on two wheels! I can't wait to either get my girlfriend's little 125 running or to get something for myself to practice on and get up to speed on. I don't think it would take me long to get on the highway, but I still need some neighborhood and parking lot time first.

From Carla:
"I just started riding, about 4 days ago! I took the Harley Rider's Edge course after years of wanting to ride. I'm definitely hooked. I'm a member of the Delphi Women Who Ride forum and was asked to repost my
Rider's Edge recap here."
